Major parts of the garden:

Mediterranean collection:

A few characteristic species and genera: Cistus laurifolius, C. albidus (rockroses), Cupressus sempervirens (Mediterranean cypress), varieties of Ficus carica (fig), Juniperus oxycedrus, J. drupacea (junipers), Laurus nobilis (bay laurel), Lavandula species and varieties (lavenders), Quercus ilex, Q. coccifera (evergreen oaks), Paliurus spina-christi (Jerusalem thorn), Pinus halepensis, P. pinea, P. pinaster (pines), Punica granatum (pomegranate), Spartium junceum (Spanish broom), Viburnum tinus (laurestine), Ziziphus jujuba (Chinese date) etc.
The collection is enriched by several perennial plant species: representatives of the following genera: Eremurus (foxtail lilies), Helianthemum (sunroses), Helichrysum (strawflowers), Helleborus (hellebores), Hosta (hostas), Hypericum (St. John’s worts), Inula (inulas), Primula (primroses), Rosmarinus (rosemary), Rudbeckia (coneflowers), Salvia (sages), Santolina (santolinas), Thymus (thymes) 

 

Winter-hardy cactus garden:

Yuccas from their original habitat: Y. aloifolia, Yucca baccata, Y. elata, Y. glauca ssp. striata, Y. recurvifolia, Y. torreyi,; and cacti: Opuntia and Cylindropuntia species, as well as: Cercocarpus montanus (mountain mahogany), Ephedra procera, Juniperus monosperma (oneseed juniper), Mahonia haematocarpa (red barberry)

 

Winter-hardy collection:

On the protected area in front of the palm house about 50 winter-hardy shrubs and trees can be found: Arbutus unedo (strawberry tree), Cunninghamia lanceolata (China-fir), Olea europaea (olive tree), Nandina domestica (heavenly bamboo), Pontirus trifoliata (wild lemon), Quercus ilex (holly oak), Trachycarpus fortunei (Chinese windmill palm) stb
